Our Story / Our Work

Thoughtful Learning is a group of educators, writers, and designers dedicated to helping students and lifelong learners succeed in a global, information-rich world. For the last 30 years, we have developed instructional materials for learners at all grade levels through college and for individuals in the business world.

We create educational materials that are innovative, pedagogically sound, and research-based. Just as important, our materials are student-friendly, teacher-friendly, and easy to use.

Thoughtful Learning is a division of Sebranek, Inc. Through Sebranek Inc.'s other divisions—Write Source and UpWrite Press—we’ve developed over 500 different products primarily focused on writing and communication.

Write Source

Starting with the concise writing handbook Basic English Revisited, launched in 1977, the Write Source program has grown into a full K through 12 handbook and textbook line of products. Popular titles include the Write Source textbook series, Writers Inc., Write Source 2000, and Writers Express. In 1996, the line of Write Source copyrights were acquired by DC Heath. Today, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt owns and distributes the program. The program continues to be a market-leader, with over 30 million copies sold to date. UpWrite Press

In 2001, Sebranek, Inc. established UpWrite Press as a sister company to Write Source. UpWrite Press develops business-writing and communication resources for the business and government markets. Our first product, Write for Business, has won several awards from such organizations as the Chicago Book Clinic. Since then, we’ve gone on to create additional books, ebooks, and training materials. Our most recent book, Write for Work, is a comprehensive work-text that prepares individuals to be effective writers, speakers, and thinkers in the workplace.
